Bruce Gernaey

Bruce Gernaey is Managing Partner of The Alternative Board, Suffolk County, New York. He has more than 25 years experience leading both entrepreneurial and large corporations and is focused on helping CEOs, presidents, owners and partners create, execute and exceed their personal and business goals. This is accomplished through sales, marketing and management consulting, pre and post employment talent management assessments, executive coaching and facilitating peer boards of business owners.

Gernaey co-founded The Alternative Board TAB® on Long Island. TAB is a selective, by invitation only, membership organization made up of presidents, CEOs and business owners who meet in small structured boards on a monthly basis to increase revenue, improve profitability and operate their businesses more effectively through the accountability of a board of directors. TAB has grown to over 150 members on Long Island since its founding in 1999.

Prior to founding TAB on Long Island, Gernaey was a division marketing director for Olympus Corporation, managing a $1 million marketing budget and growing sales at three times the market rate to $120 million. He served as director of sales and marketing for several companies, growing successful businesses ranging from start-up to large multi-national corporations. During his professional career he has provided sales, marketing, strategic planning and new business development consulting to entrepreneurial and large corporations. Bruce has a master’s degree and is a TAB-certified facilitator and Strategic Business Leadership® Coach.

Jacquelyn Gernaey

Jacquelyn Gernaey is CEO and founder of HyTech Consulting, a management-consulting firm based on Long Island, NY and founded in 1994. She has more than thirty years’ experience leading both entrepreneurial and large corporations and now focuses on analysis and development of business owners and attorneys.

In 1999 Gernaey founded The Alternative Board (TAB) on Long Island. TAB is a selective, by invitation only, membership organization made up of Presidents, CEO’s, and Owners who meet in peer board think tank groups to work in a structured way to address their issues, opportunities and concerns and improve profitability, revenue and efficiency in their companies. She was the first woman to purchase a franchise in The Alternative Board. She facilitates three board of director meetings and mentors the TAB facilitator/coaching team.

In 2012 Gernaey was appointed an Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Bringing the principles of Quality Management to closely held private companies and the development of the leaders of these businesses is her personal goal.

Prior to HyTech, she was the first woman to be promoted to Division President of American Home Products, a then $8.5 billion corporation. The $25 million division had 200 employees on Long Island. She also served as Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Business Development for United Biomedical, Inc. a vaccine, therapeutics and diagnostics company and acted as General Manager for their Diagnostics Division. She has also been affiliated with several other companies including American Hospital Supply Corporation and Baxter Healthcare Corporation in sales and marketing management.

Jacquelyn was on the Village of Belle Terre Zoning Board of Appeals for several years prior to being appointed, and subsequently elected, Village Trustee in June, 2016.

John Sasso

John Sasso joined The Alternative Board (TAB) team in 2002 and currently facilitates and coaches two TAB business-owner boards. John is also president and founder of Insight Consulting, an independent management-consulting firm that specializes in assisting companies with their profit and growth plans. John’s areas of expertise include strategic development, marketing and sales planning and management, budgeting and financial management.

John has extensive experience in developing business plans, marketing strategies, product development plans and arranging for the out-sourcing of operations and materials to low cost factories in Asia and Mexico.

During his more than 25 years as a top level executive, he succeeded in acquiring strategic companies, turning around troubled businesses, consolidating mergers and acquisitions, and leading a management buyout and a subsequent initial public offering. His efforts have consistently resulted in sales growth and profit improvement for the companies involved, whose sales range from $4 million to $100 million.

John’s efforts consistently result in sales growth and profit improvement. He has extensive experience in developing strategic and operating business plans, marketing strategies, product design and development.

John backs the advice and direction he gives through real world hands-on experience with both large and small businesses. Before running and growing profitable businesses, he gained technical experience in software and systems development, sales, sales management and marketing. He is a graduate of Hofstra University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Economics.

Andrea Feinberg

Andrea Feinberg joined The Alternative Board (TAB) team in 2004 and currently facilitates and coaches two TAB business-owner boards. In that role FlexiSpy review and as president of Coaching Insight, LLC she drags business owners from the daily grind and towards their big picture opportunities where they’ll find a better run business, more money, a happier life and the time to enjoy it all.

She is among the pioneers of the business coaching profession, having been a charter member of Coachville, the world’s largest coach training program and a graduate of Coach U, personally trained by Thomas Leonard, founder of both. She continually adds to her skill set for small business owners through certifications in Emotional Intelligence, Behavioral Analysis and as a Strategic Leadership Coach.

A business owner since 1988, Andrea has always been active in her local business community as the Small Business Expert on, president of her local Chamber of Commerce, and maintaining a leadership role with the Brookhaven Small Business Advisory Council. From 2002 – 2006 she co-owned and built the largest, Long Island-based training and networking group for professional coaches, United Coaching Associates.

She has been profiled, interviewed and published in many newspapers and online magazines and blogs, including The New York Times. In 2011 Long Island Business News named her among ’50 Most Influential Women in Business’. In January 2012 she was added to ‘Who’s Who; 101 Women in E-Commerce.’ She’s published two books, “The Essential Coaching Book” and “Time Junkie – 101 Ways for Business Owners to Break the Habit and Get More Free Time NOW!”

Rob Fishman

In 2008, Rob Fishman joined the Sandler Training organization of Hauppauge and was instrumental in developing a strategic alliance between Sandler and The Alternative Board of Suffolk County. As part of the alliance, Rob experienced the benefit of being a TAB Board member. Prior to joining Sandler Training, Rob was the President and CEO of a Long Island-based retailer of fine jewelry. He spent over 25 years in this business, 12 of them at the helm and holds a degree in Fine Arts.

Rob honed his skills through many years of running a successful enterprise, and by being an active participant in an industry-specific peer accountability group. In this alliance of like-minded business owners, Rob and his colleagues developed their expertise in customer relations, financial analysis, marketing, branding, sales and sales management.

Rob is an avid and active musician and conductor, performing regularly in the New York Metro and Long Island area. Rob has a passion for mentoring people and helping them to reach their full potential, making him a perfect addition to The Alternative Board team.

Ellen Cooperperson

Ellen Cooperperson joined The Alternative Board (TAB) team in 2013 and is a Certified TAB Board facilitator and Strategic Business Leadership coach. For nearly three decades she has led Cooperperson Performance Consulting in addressing the challenges that businesses face at various stages of their corporate lifecycles. From start-up to sale or succession plan, businesses often need assistance to develop their strategy or to change course when performance is not meeting expectations. With academic degrees and expertise in Organizational Behavior and Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Ellen’s approach is to work closely with her clients and their management teams to find solutions to develop a new course of action using the application of essential tools and techniques that drives the business to success.
